Barcade – Bar, Arcade, Fun Foods, Newark + Jersey City

Drink Outside Jersey City Bar

Quickie: Bars are awesome. Arcades are awesome. Barcade in Jersey City offers the best of both worlds. Grab a beer, play some pinball, chow down on delicious dishes or try your hand at retro arcade games. Closer to Newark? You’re in luck. Barcade has a second location there.

Bars are awesome. Arcades are awesome. Combining the two? Epic. Barcade got its start in Williamsburg back in 2004  and the first New Jersey location opened in Jersey City in 2011. An absolute blast, you’ll find retro games including Galaga, Ms. Pac Man and Mortal Kombat along with a variety of pinball machines. Fun to play sober, they may be even more enjoyable after a few drinks, and there are plenty of drinks to choose from.

What’s on tap? It depends on the day. The selection varies by season but you can often find something from Dogfish Head and Neshaminy Creek. These beers pair perfectly with their flavorful dishes including stuffed garlic bread and the Fat Jersey City (pulled pork, cheddar jalapeno hot dog, cheddar, 2 deviled eggs, watercress & tomato on a sub roll).  Visit for lunch (12-4) and score special food + drink deals. Their extended happy hours also mean sweet savings.

The Jersey City location can be found at 163 Newark Avenue, just a block from the Grove Street PATH Station. Barcade has thrived in New Jersey for the past six years and it’s time for more New Jerseyans to get in on the fun. A second location opened several Augusts ago at 494 Broad Street in Newark. Situated between several universities (Rutgers Newark and NJIT), it’s almost certain to succeed!
